Masala Sweet Corn / Sweet Corn Chat

sweet corn masala

Sweet corn is a grain that anyone will cherish. This is yet another versatile veggie that can be included in soups, pulavs, curries and various dishes. Today's special is masala sweet corn which is very commonly found in malls, cinema theatres, beach road-side etc. Its nice to munch on this when we go out. And just one cup per person would not be sufficient sometimes. Especially kids do ask for more. Sweet corn chat can be prepared at home very easily with
simple ingredients that are handy in our kitchens. And this is cost effective too.

Method :

Remove the husk and separate the corn grains from the kernel. Cook these corn grains in pressure cooker until 2 whistles with water ( just enough to cover the corns or even less than that but not more ), salt and sugar. Once the pressure is cooled, put them in a colander or a strainer to remove excess water.

Heat a pan. Add oil and ghee. Add ground cumin seeds powder ( Powder the cumin seeds in a mortal pestle ).

Add finely chopped onion and fry until they turn brown in colour.

Add ginger paste and saute for 2-3 minutes.

Add soya sauce and saute for a minute. Add finely chopped tomato. Cook until the tomatoes turn mushy.

Add all the powders - turmeric, curry leaf powder, garam masala, black pepper powder, curry powder. Fry for a minute.

Add chilli powder. Fry for another minute.

Add the cooked corn and mix well.

Add chat masala and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
